Red Light Therapy

Red light therapy works by exposing the body to low-level red or near-infrared light.

These light wavelengths (typically 630-700 nm for red light and 800-900 nm for NIR) penetrate deep into tissues. Once absorbed by the mitochondria in cells, they stimulate increased energy (ATP) production. This process supports various cellular functions and promotes healing and regeneration in the body.

  • The most well known studied mechanism of action surrounding red and near infrared light therapy is increased mitochondrial energy production in our cells. Red and near infrared light therapy helps the mitochondria create more of that energy known as ATP. The specific photons found in red and near infrared light interact with the photoreceptor within our cells called cytochrome c oxidase. The interaction simulates the mitochondria in our cells to use oxygen more efficiently, which allows the mitochondria to produce more ATP ( cellular energy). During the LED Therapy treatment chromophores within our cellular mitochondria absorb red and infrared light photons and convert them into energy. Once this red light energy has been absorbed by the body. It is then used by the cells to build new proteins such as collagen and elastin and to assist with cellular regeneration. When our cells have more energy they perform all of their functions better. When our cells are functioning optimally our bodies function optimally. Benefits are:

  • Of course, just make sure that the area that you’re treating is completely exposed.

  • We would recommend wearing protective glasses during therapy.

  • There are some, but most are influenced by individual sensitivity. Of course, also follow your feelings during and after therapy. 

    Consult a doctor if:
     you suffer from hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid gland). 
    – you are pregnant. Also increase the distance from the source when shining on the belly with near-infrared spectrum (NIR). It produces heat, so as not to cause unnecessary heating. 
    – you experience photosensitivity. Whether natural or due to medication. 
     you are being treated for cancer
    – you have open bleeding wounds. Overall blood circulation increases, so does the amount of lost blood. 
    – you suffer from a specific disease.

  • The sessions can range from 10-20 minutes.
