Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
Mild hyperbaric chamber therapy involves the use of a chamber that provides a controlled environment with increased atmospheric pressure, typically between 1.3 to 1.5 ATA (atmospheres absolute).
Combining increased atmospheric pressure with increased inspired oxygen drives more oxygen into circulation. Typically, oxygen is carried on red blood cells while in a hyperbaric chamber under increased atmospheric pressure, oxygen is also infused into the blood plasma or liquid of the blood.
Therefore, with more oxygen in circulation our oxygen-carrying capacity is increased dramatically.
The benefits of MHBOT are due both to this acute infusion of oxygen and the pressure on the body.
FAQs
-
During the therapy, you will breathe 94-96% oxygen through a mask while inside the chamber. The increased pressure allows more oxygen to dissolve in the blood, helping to improve healing, reducing inflammation and promoting overall wellness.

Mild hyperbaric therapy is generally considered safe, especially when conducted under professional supervision. However, it may not be suitable for everyone.
Individuals with certain medical conditions, such as untreated pneumothorax or some heart and lung diseases, should consult with a healthcare provider before using the therapy.
If you have a fever or a cold, it is not advised as it will be harder to equalise.

A typical session in a mild hyperbaric chamber will last 60 mins at the desired depth. You will need to add around 10 mins to get down to the required depth and 10 mins to come up. For example, a 60 min session would require 80 mins in total. 90 mins sessions are also available on request.

The amount of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy sessions required varies from person to person. Some see the benefits after the first session, others require many more before they see visible changes based on their situation. Hyperbaric Oxygen works via its cumulative effect, meaning exposing your body to Hyperbaric Oxygen for several sessions in a row to see the benefits. There are protocols tailored to each person during their initial consultation.

During a session, you will enter the chamber and relax while the pressure is gradually increased. You may experience a sensation like being underwater or being on an aeroplane, such as ear pressure which is usually relieved by swallowing, pinching your nose or yawning.
It is a quiet and calm experience, and many people listen to music or read. You can take your phone/iPad in there with you if you wish.
During your session, which will be around one hour, it’s likely that you’ll feel sleepy, so close your eyes and take advantage of some rest and relaxation.
After a Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy session, it is not unusual to feel hungry. This is the body’s natural reaction and should not limit your ability to carry out normal actions after the therapy.

Most individuals tolerate mild hyperbaric therapy well, but possible side effects may include ear discomfort, sinus pressure, or temporary fatigue following a session.

Yes, you can. The soft chamber we use has plenty of room for you to move around.
You can lie down or recline and there are windows so that you can see you out and so you can communicate clearly with the therapist.
“After I've been in the oxygen chamber, I feel so much more invigorated. If I've felt a little tired during the week, I'll treat myself to a session and always feel re-energised afterwards.
Imogen is knowledgeable and makes you feel at home. The chamber is super comfortable - I use my time to read and then meditate! Get yourself in there!”
